Job summary

Brookwood Baptist Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant to provide patient care under supervision of a Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse. You will assist with hygiene, mobility, hydration, and nutrition, and help maintain a safe and clean patient environment.

The role includes taking vitals, assisting with admissions and discharges, and documenting patient information in accordance with hospital policies. Start day one benefits and ongoing training are provided.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• One year of nursing assistant work experience within the past five years may be substituted for one of the trainings listed below.
• Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.

Responsibilities

• Assists patients with hygiene, mobility, hydration, elimination, and nutritional needs.
• Provides routine treatments and maintains a safe, clean, neat, and organized patient environment.
• Maintains safety and security of patients, families, self, and other members of the healthcare team.
• Assures patient privacy, rights, and confidentiality.
• Follows standard precautions, always washes hands between patients.
• Assists with admission, transfer, and discharge of patients.
• Takes and records temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rates, and input/output as directed.
• Obtains data and documents pertinent patient information according to Baptist Health policies.
• Recognizes and communicates safety concerns regarding the patient’s condition to the RN or team.
• Participates in handoff report and hourly rounding of patients.
• Provides excellent service and care for patients, families, customers, and team members.
• Demonstrates competency in tasks as defined by Baptist Health.
• Maintains a clean, neat, safe nursing unit.
• Receives and processes calls and guest requests.
• Transports and delivers items, equipment, medications throughout the facility.
• Maintains regular attendance according to policy.

Education

High school graduate or equivalent

One (1) year of nursing assistant experience in past five years

Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• One (1) year of nursing assistant work experience within the past five years may be substituted for completion of one of the below trainings:
• Nursing Assistant or Patient Care Assistant Program; or
• State of Alabama Certified Nursing Assistant certification; or
• State of Alabama Licensed Practical Nurse; or
• Graduate of an approved school of nursing; or
• Medical Corpsman, Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedic; or
• Medical personnel licensed outside the United States Licensure/Certification.
• One (1) year of experience within the past five years in a relevant healthcare setting. No experience required for graduates of an approved school of nursing, or other training listed in training requirements.
• Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification.
