Advocate Health is seeking CNAs for St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee, WI. Positions include Full-time or Part-time roles with variable shifts (7am-3:30pm, 7am-7:30pm, 3pm-11:30pm, as well as night options).

Responsibilities include assisting with daily living activities, monitoring vitals, and supporting nursing staff in a fast-paced hospital environment. Benefits eligible with comprehensive rewards and development opportunities.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and CNA (WI Registry) required.
  • Compassionate, patient-focused with strong communication.
  • Ability to use gait belts, transfer devices, lifts, and other care equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
  • Help patients with mobility, turning, repositioning, and transfers.
  • Serve meals and assist with feeding as needed.
  • Take and record vital signs and report changes to the nursing staff.
  • Set up medical equipment and assist during procedures as needed.
  • Transport patients to tests, surgeries, or departments.
  • Restock supplies and maintain a clean, safe environment.
  • Document care provided and inform the team of observations.
  • Provide emotional support and communicate with patients’ families.

Department: Status: Full time Benefits Eligible: Yes Hours Per Week: 36 Schedule Details/Additional Information: FULL-TIME (3 shifts per week) or PART-TIME (2 shifts per week) 8 or 12-hour shifts (no PRN or 4-hour shifts) 1st shift (7am-3:30pm or 7am-7:30pm 2nd shift (3pm-11:30pm) 3rd shift (11pm-7:30am or 7pm-7:30am) Openings are available on several units at this location Weekend & Holiday rotation will be required Pay Range: $20.80 – $31.20 Job Description Primary Responsibilities Patient Care Assist with daily activities like bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting. Help patients with mobility: turning, repositioning, and transferring between beds and wheelchairs. Serve meals and assist with feeding if needed. Vital Signs Monitoring Take and record vital signs such as temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rate. Report any changes in a patient’s condition to nurses or doctors. Support for Nurses and Doctors Set up medical equipment and assist during some procedures. Transport patients to different departments (e.g., radiology, surgery). Restock supplies and maintain a clean, safe environment. Patient Observation Monitor patients for signs of distress or changes in behavior. Document care provided and communicate observations to the healthcare team. Emotional Support Offer companionship and reassurance to patients. Communicate with patients’ families and help them understand care routines. How might this role be different if you’ve never worked in a hospital? Pace & Environment: Fast-paced, often high-pressure. Patients may be acutely ill or recovering from surgery. Patient Turnover: High. Patients are admitted, treated, and discharged relatively quickly. Duties: Assist with post-operative care Monitor vital signs frequently Support nurses during procedures Transport patients to tests or surgeries Team Structure: CNAs work closely with a large, multidisciplinary team including RNs, doctors, and specialists. Variety: Exposure to different departments (e.g., ER, ICU, med-surg) and more diverse experiences.
