Job summary

Tenet Healthcare is seeking a Nursing Assistant to provide basic nursing care under the supervision of an RN across multiple units, including General, Special Care, Maternal Child, Nursery and Pediatric areas. Duties include patient comfort, monitoring, and assisting with daily living activities.

High school diploma required; preferred CNA/EMT/Paramedic/Medical Assisting coursework. At least 6 months in healthcare and BLS/Intervention training within 60 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or equivalent.
• Preferred completion of a Nurse Assistant, EMT, Paramedic or Medical Assisting course.
• 6 months in healthcare industry or knowledge of basic medical terms and procedures.
• BLS and Crisis Intervention training within 60 days of hire or transfer.

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of an RN, provide basic nursing care for assigned patients.
• Care across General, Special Care, Maternal Child, Nursery, Pediatric, GI Lab, and Emergency units.
• Perform routine tasks and monitor patient condition under supervision.
• Assist with activities of daily living and comfort measures.
• Prepare and maintain patient environments and supplies.
• Complete established competencies for the position within the introductory period.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Responsibilities

• Under the direction/supervision of an RN, provides basic nursing care for assigned group of patients
• General Nursing Units cares for patients from age 15 years to maturity by clinically competent nursing staff.
• Special Care Areas cares for patients from age 15 years through adult with high risk conditions by clinically competent nursing staff.
• Maternal Child Units: Labor and Delivery care includes patients who have a pregnancy related condition by staff who are clinically competent in maternity care.
• Nursery care includes care for newborn until discharge status by clinically competent staff.
• Pediatric clinically competent staff provides care to patients from neonate through age of eighteen.
• GI Lab Unit cares for toddlers, beginning age 24 months, through adult by clinically competent staff.
• Chemical Dependent Unit and Psychiatric Unit cares for adult patients and family with holistic approach to emotional problems by clinically competent nursing staff.
• Emergency Unit provides care to presenting patients of all ages by clinically competent staff in pediatric and high- risk adult care.
• Surgical Services provides care to patients from neonate to geriatric.
• Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period.
• Other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Education

High School Graduate or equivalent

Preferred Education

Satisfactorily completed a Nurse Assistant, EMT, Paramedic or Medical Assisting course.

Preferred Experience

6 months in healthcare industry and/or knowledge of basic medical terms and procedures

BLS-Obtained through approved American Heart Association Training Center or the Military Training Network Non-Violent Crisis Intervention obtained with 60 days of hire or transfer to position
