Job Summary

Perform various direct patient care activities, procedures and other indirect services under the direction of a Clinical Nurse.

Responsibilities

• Deliver quality care to patients as delegated by the Clinical Nurse and according to hospital policy and procedure.
• Assist with procedures as determined by hospital policy and procedure, and regulatory guidelines.
• Maintain a neat, clean, and safe patient and unit environment.
• Provide optimum assistance to the medical and nursing staff by providing/ assisting patient with activities of daily living and daily assignments.
• Assist in orientation of new Nursing Assistants.
• Provide courteous and prompt response to patient requests.
• May be required to cover the house.
• Assist with unit maintenance related to ordering and receiving supplies, medications, manuals, and equipment.

The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of the orientation period) and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment or care as defined by the department’s identified patient ages. Specifically the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; knowledge of growth and development; and understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients.
