Veterans Health Administration in Reno, NV seeks a Nursing Assistant to develop basic nursing skills and provide care to patients with acute to chronic conditions in a federal health care setting.
The role includes sustaining therapeutic relationships, documenting in EHR, reporting to the RN, and preparing care equipment. You will assist with patient orientation and simple procedures, while monitoring and safeguarding patient well-being.
The Nursing Assistant (NA) the candidate will be provided opportunities to develop basic nursing skills in order to provide care to patients/residents with acute to chronic conditions in a health care setting.
Major duties to include but not limited to: Maintains positive therapeutic relationships by displaying respect for human dignity with patient, families and/or significant others utilizing learned communication skills. Charts in proper electronic health record or paper chart pertinent information. Reports patient observations to the RN and/or other members of the treatment team. Set up patient care related equipment.
Assist with orienting patient/family to unit routines and policies. Organizes and obtains routine supplies and equipment. Escort patients. Performing and documenting prescribed medical treatment and interventions for patients, such as simple dressing changes. Monitors patients according to levels of observations.
Monitors Veterans who may be at risk for harming themselves and or others according to established policies and procedures and appropriately refers issues to the charge nurse or other health care professional. Utilizes glucose monitoring machine to collect glucose values on veterans when needed and refer deviations to appropriate nursing staff or other health care provider.
Safeguarding the patient's right to privacy by judiciously protecting information of a confidential nature. Demonstrate understanding and proficiency of the use of the continuous virtual care platform with audio and visual capability.
