Job summary

Job description

Qualifications:

A. Education:High school graduate or equivalent required upon hire or transfer to the
department. The Nursing Assistant will be listed with the TexasDepartment of Health Nurse Aid Registry required.
B. Training and Experience:
1. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the AmericanHeart Association (AHA) upon hire or transfer to the department required.
2. Successful completion of general and nursing orientation within three (3) months of hire.
3. Completion of the following competencies within three (3) monthsof hire or transfer to the department:

• Unit orientation
• Unit safety
• Attendance requirements
• Code Blue participation
• Safe, effective patient care: patient identification, vital signs,inputs/outputs, personal care, bed-making, patient transfer andreporting
• Appropriate and timely documentation
• Effective time management, organizational and prioritizationskills
