Job summary

SBH Health System in Bronx, NY is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or LPN. You will assist with activities of daily living, promote comfort and safety, observe changes, and contribute to a positive patient experience while following hospital policies.

This role requires a valid CNA certification and BLS, a high school diploma or GED, and excellent interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living.

• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient environment.
• Observe, report, and document changes to the licensed nurse.
• Assist with admission, discharge, and transfer of patients.
• Collect specimens as directed.
• Stock patient care areas and maintain supplies.
• Support infection prevention and control practices including hand hygiene and PPE.
• Maintain patient confidentiality per HIPAA.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to provide compassionate care.
• Participate in unit-based education and quality improvement activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). The CNA assists patients with activities of daily living, promotes patient comfort and safety, observes and reports changes in patient condition, and contributes to a positive patient experience while maintaining compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, feeding, and ambulation.
• Obtain and accurately document vital signs, height, weight, intake and output, and other assigned clinical data.
• Respond promptly to patient call lights and requests.
• Assist with patient transfers using proper body mechanics and safe patient handling equipment.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient environment.
• Observe, report, and document changes in patient condition to the licensed nurse.
• Assist with admission, discharge, and transfer of patients.
• Collect specimens as directed.
• Stock patient care areas and maintain adequate supplies.
• Support infection prevention and control practices, including proper hand hygiene and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
• Collaborate effectively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to provide high-quality, compassionate care.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Education

• High school diploma or GED required.

Licensure/Certification

• Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or obtained within organizational guidelines.

Experience

• Previous acute care or long-term care experience preferred but not required.
