Job summary

The British International School of Houston, part of Nord Anglia Education, is seeking a School Nurse LVN to support students and staff in a state-of-the-art campus in Katy, Texas.

The successful candidate will provide nursing care, administer medications, and coordinate with families and healthcare providers, ensuring student health, safety, and wellbeing. The role requires LVN licensure and strong communication in a multicultural school community.

Qualifications

• Must hold LVN licensure and comply with Texas Board of Nursing requirements.
• Experience in a school setting or pediatric care is beneficial.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities in a multicultural environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care, first aid, and emergency response during school hours.
• Assess illness/injury, determine treatment, and coordinate follow-up care.
• Administer medications per physician orders and school policy.
• Maintain confidential health records and immunization documentation.
• Develop and monitor health plans for students with medical needs.
• Monitor immunization requirements and medication authorizations.
• Collaborate with parents, healthcare providers, and staff for student health.

The British International School of Houston is seeking to appoint a School Nurse LVN to assist and support students and staff in our state of the art purpose built school for the Academic School year (term time).

The successful candidate will practice nursing within the scope of LVN licensure and comply with all requirements of the Texas Board of Nursing, including collaboration and supervision requirements as applicable.

With proven organizational and inter-personnel skills and a love for working with children, you will be an excellent communicator who gets on well with colleagues, students and parents alike within an international and multi-cultural setting.

Roles And Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care, first aid, and emergency response for students during the school day.
• Assess illness and injury, determine appropriate treatment, and coordinate follow-up care and referrals as required.
• Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders, parental authorization, school policy, and applicable regulations.
• Maintain accurate, confidential student health records, including immunizations, medications, medical conditions, incident reports, and treatment documentation.
• Develop, implement, and monitor individualized healthcare and emergency action plans for students with acute and chronic medical conditions.
• Monitor compliance with state immunization requirements and manage student medication authorization processes.
• Collaborate with parents, healthcare providers, and school staff to support student health, wellbeing, safeguarding, and access to learning.
• Promote health education, wellness, hygiene, and illness prevention initiatives across the school community.
• Maintain health office supplies, equipment, and emergency resources, supporting school trips, residential experiences, and campus safety initiatives.
• Perform all duties within the scope of LVN practice and in compliance with school policies and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
