Job summary

Covenant Health’s Cumberland Medical Center in Crossville, TN seeks a Unit Supervisor RN to support the Nurse Manager in delivering high-quality care and coordinating unit operations. You will supervise staff, ensure compliance with Joint Commission standards, and report nursing activities for patient care and regulatory purposes.

The role emphasizes communication with medical staff and ancillary departments, performance evaluation, and achieving unit goals within the Covenant Health system.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited nursing program required; bachelor's degree preferred (required within 3 years in position or effective date of job description).
• Three (3) years of recent clinical experience.
• Current TN state registered nurse license.

Responsibilities

• Assist in selection, training, orienting, developing and evaluating the performance of the department staff.
• Work with manager to ensure compliance with the Joint Commission standards, federal and state guidelines, and nursing standards and practices.
• Maintains operational reports and records and collects statistical data for administrative and regulatory purposes.
• Assists with coordination and reporting of nursing activities performed on behalf of the patient.
• Establishes and maintains communication between the nursing unit, medical staff and ancillary departments for problem solving and quality improvement.
• Assists with establishment and implementation of unit goals and objectives aligned with the facility and system.
• Promotes a safe environment that allows for the delivery of high quality patient care utilizing evidenced based practices.
• Protects patient confidentiality by promoting professional staff communications.
• Supervises, institutes, and evaluates nursing interventions and documentation.
• Demonstrates competence in performing critical skills to include appropriate delivery of care according to the age-specific needs of the population served.
• Works collaboratively with other disciplines to ensure patient care is timely, efficient, and effective.
• Facilitates professional development of staff.
• Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
