Job summary

Villa Healthcare is seeking a Nurse Unit Manager RN to oversee day-to-day nursing activities and ensure high-quality care. You will assess, implement, and evaluate plans of care, while coordinating with administration and other departments.

The role requires an RN license, nursing degree, CPR certification, and supervisory experience or strong leadership potential in a long-term care setting.

Qualifications

  • Current CPR certification is required.
  • Possess a Nursing degree or diploma from an accredited college or university.
  • Must hold a current RN license in the state.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Long-Term care and MDS experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manages nursing staff, schedules breaks, reviews performance, enforces policies, and coaches as needed.
  • Coordinates with administration, medical and nursing staff to plan care.
  • Develops and maintains care standards for residents.
  • Makes rounds to monitor resident conditions and nursing performance.
  • Gives/receives shift reports and ensures clean, sanitary areas.
  • Assists QA committee with action plans to correct deficiencies.
  • Performs administrative tasks such as forms, reports, and charting.
  • Interprets policies to staff, residents, and families.
  • Provides direct nursing care as needed and supports restorative care notes.
  • Documents data per Medicare/Medicaid and company standards.

Job description

Villa at Pine Place is seeking a Nurse Unit Manager RN to join their team! The Nurse Unit Manager RN primary purpose is to manage the day-to-day nursing activities of the facility. To ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times. Ensure nursing care is provided through assessment, implementation, and evaluation of the plan of care.

Nurse Unit Manager RN Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manages the nursing staff, scheduling breaks, reassigning employees from one area to another area as facility needs dictate, writing performance reviews, and enforcing policies with responsibility to issue Coaching and Corrective Action, as needed.

  • Meets with administration, medical and nursing staff, therapy department, as well as other related departments in planning care.

  • Develops and maintains care standards.

  • Makes frequent rounds to note resident/patient conditions and to ensure nursing personnel are performing their work assignments in accordance with acceptable nursing standards.

  • Gives and receives the nursing report upon reporting in and ending shift duty hours.

  • Ensures assigned work area (i.e. nurse station, med. Cart, medication room, etc.), resident/patient care rooms and treatment areas are maintained in a clean and sanitary manner.

  • Assists the Quality Assessment and Assurance Committee in developing and implementing appropriate plans of action to correct identified deficiencies

  • Performs administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charting, etc.

  • Interprets restorative care policies and procedures to personnel, residents, family members, etc.

  • Provides direct nursing care as necessary and as department needs may dictate.

  • Ensures that all restorative care notes are informative and descriptive of the treatment provided and of the resident’s response to the care.

  • Documents all pertinent data as required by Medicare, Medicaid, company standards and policies.

  • Completes the required forms upon admission, transfer, and/or discharge.

  • Informs nursing service personnel of new admissions, their expected time of arrival, room assignment etc.

  • All other duties, as assigned.

Nurse Unit Manager RNSkills and Abilities:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

  • Strong interpersonal and team development skills.

  • Ability to multi-task and remain calm under stress.

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to organize and prioritize work and delegate to others.

  • Understands and follows infection control standards, policies and procedures.

  • Must be able to adapt to a flexible work schedule and occasional overnight travel.

  • Demonstrate basic computer knowledge and ability with an aptitude to learn company applications.

Nurse Unit Manager RN Education and Experience:
  • Current CPR Certification required.

  • Nursing Degree or diploma from an accredited College or University.

  • Possess a current license to practice in the State as a Registered Nurse.

  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience preferred.

  • Long-Term care and MDS experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:
  • Walking, reaching, bending, lifting, extended sitting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling, all with or without the aid of mechanical devices is required.

  • Limited potential for exposure to environmental hazards. Understanding and adherence to company safety standards and protocols required.
