Job summary

The California Nurses Association / NNOC / NNU is seeking a Labor Representative in San Jose, CA. Hybrid with occasional travel, you will build worker power, organize shop floor committees, and develop nurse leaders to advance patient care and health equity.

You will lead campaigns, assist in contract negotiations, analyze data to drive action, and mobilize members during strikes or job actions while serving diverse, multi-cultural membership.

Qualifications

• Experience in organizing membership participation.
• Ability to develop rank and file leadership.
• Ability to track and analyze data and generate reports.
• Willingness to work long, irregular hours (including nights and weekends).
• Commitment to social change and to organizational program.

Responsibilities

• Build and grow the nurse network.
• Identify and develop leaders.
• Develop campaign plans.
• Maintain relationships with nurse leaders.
• Organize shop floor actions, including strikes.
• Train nurses on grievances handling and representation.
• Advise on collective bargaining across private and public sectors.
• Participate in external organizing drives.
• Compile and analyze data for campaigns.
• Assist in contract negotiations.
• Provide member education.
• Represent nurses in employment-related problems.
• Travel to worksites to meet members.
• Support other field tasks as assigned.
• Maintain a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
