Job summary

Cone Health Medical Group is seeking a Nursing Technician to support the Registered Nurse by observing and documenting patient conditions and assisting with daily tasks under close supervision.

You will help with daily living activities, monitor vitals, assist with mobility, and ensure a safe, well‑organized unit; NC Nurse Aide certification and BLS/CPR are required.

This role emphasizes teamwork, accurate documentation, and adherence to safety goals to support recovery and the plan of care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Nurse Aide Certification required by NC DHHR.
• BLS (CPR) certification required.
• No prior experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily living tasks and progressive mobility to support recovery.
• Assess nutrition, hydration, and elimination to anticipate needs.
• Admit, transfer, and discharge patients per plan of care.
• Assist with glucose monitoring, vital signs, EKGs, and other procedures.
• Maintain unit inventories and keep a safe, clean environment.
• Check fall-risk precautions and signage for patient safety.
• Document all procedures, interactions, and medications.
• Respond to nurse delegation and share patient observations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Nursing Technician supports the Registered Nurse through observing and documenting patient conditions. Working under close supervision, this role assists with patient support through progressive mobility and assistance with daily tasks as needed.

Essential Job Function

• Supports patients with daily living tasks, including meals, personal care, and progressive mobility in order to support the recovery and plan of care.
• Assesses patients' quality of life related to nutrition, hydration, and elimination in order to distribute resources and anticipate patient needs.
• Admits, transfers, and discharges patients in order to move them to the appropriate locations in line with the plan of care.
• Assists with clinical procedures, including monitoring blood glucose, recording vital signs, obtaining EKG's, applying restraints, and attending to elimination needs to provide comfortable care for patients.
• Helps to maintain unit inventories of supplies and medical equipment in order to ensure a clean and safe environment in adherence to the National Patient Safety Goals.
• Checks that fall-risk patients have the appropriate arm bands, socks, and signage to ensure physical safety.
• Helps document all clinical procedures, patient interactions, and medication use to maintain a detailed patient history.
• Responds promptly to delegation from registered nurse staff and shares patient observations to ensure efficient collaboration.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
