Job summary

Health First in Melbourne, FL seeks a Nurse Tech to assist licensed personnel under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. This role supports direct patient care and contributes to a compassionate, efficient healthcare team.

Responsibilities include collecting patient information, performing routine care, responding to call lights, maintaining safety standards, and communicating with the care team. Per Diem schedule; shift times 7:00am–7:00pm; BLS certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in an RN or LPN program with hands-on clinical coursework completed.
• Ability to speak and understand verbal and written instructions in English.
• Ability to focus and prioritize multiple activities.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Nurse Tech by assisting licensed personnel in providing direct nursing care under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN).

Primary Accountabilities

• Collects, records, and reports accurate patient information.
• Performs routine procedures competently, delivering basic care to patients as directed by RN
• Provides service to patients and families with sensitivity and respect for their expectations, age, cultural and individual needs.
• Responds to call lights and completes other assigned tasks in a timely manner.
• Complies consistently and effectively with department service standards such as purposeful rounding, bedside shift report, and white board management to enhance customer communication.
• Communicates effectively with all members of the health care team to promote effective team functioning; actively seeks feedback and coaching to improve customer experience.
• Contributes to the customer experience goals as evidenced by positive patient experience scores/comments and/or other written compliments
• Accesses rooms that contain IV solutions, authorized medications and supplies as needed for patient care responsibilities.
• Adheres to National Patient Safety Goals (i.e. use of 2 patient identifiers) when accessing patient information and in performing job duties.

Work Experience

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Education: Enrolled in a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse program with successful completion of hands-on clinical coursework.
• Any one of the following:
• May remain in role up to one (1) year after graduation from nursing program OR
• Licensure as a RN or LPN is obtained OR
• NCLEX exam is failed two (2) times or more.

• Certification: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintained.
• Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
• Must meet unit-specific care requirements.
• Ability to speak and understand verbal and written instructions in the English language.
• Ability to focus and prioritize multiple activities.

Physical Requirements

• Physically agile; may require walking, standing, running, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, or crouching frequently.
• May occasionally include lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance.
• May require moving in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces, including reaching out and above shoulders, or overhead.
• May lift, turn, pull, push, or ambulate people and/or equipment with or without assistance up to 90% of the assigned shift.
• May be exposed to inside and outside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting, and/or low to loud noise.
• May require working with biohazards such as blood/body fluids and airborne particles following OSHA and CDC guidelines.
• Communicating with others to exchange information.
• Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks.
• Workspace may vary from open to confined.
• May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
