Job summary

Corewell Health’s Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids seeks dedicated staff for its Emergency Center. You will work under RN/Provider supervision, delivering quality pediatric care and maintaining safety protocols in a Level I trauma environment.

Qualifications

• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 days

Responsibilities

• Take vitals and monitor patient condition under supervision of RN/Provider
• Assist with basic daily patient care including hygiene, mobility, and comfort
• Document observations accurately and timely in patient records
• Support team with safety and patient comfort during shift

While we treat minor illnesses and injuries, we are also prepared with a pediatric trauma care team that provides care for severe injuries. We’re proud to have the only pediatric emergency department in West Michigan, which is designed specifically for children and staffed by experts in pediatric emergency medicine. Recognized as experts in pediatric trauma and burn care with specially trained physicians and nurses available 24 hours a day to care for unexpected or severe injuries.

Scope of work

Acts as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider. Performs basic skills per department guidelines and communicates observations to members of the health care team. Collects and reports physiological, psychological, sociocultural and spiritual needs of patients and families in coordination with and as delineated by the RN or Provider. Responsibilities include taking vitals, checking blood sugars, bed bathing, ambulating, wound care, catheterization and acting as a safety attendant for patients. Ensures that required documentation is performed in an accurate and timely manner.
