Corewell Health’s Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids seeks a dedicated staff member to join the Resource Center team. You will support nurses and health professionals by performing bedside care, taking vitals, assisting with activities of daily living, and ensuring patient safety.

The role emphasizes teamwork, observation, and clear communication with the care team. This full-time position requires a High School Diploma or GED and BLS certification within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Acts as a team member delivering quality patient care under supervision of RN or Provider.
• Performs basic skills per department guidelines and communicates observations to health care team.
• Collects and reports physiological, psychological, sociocultural and spiritual needs of patients and families in coordination with RN/Provider.
• Responsibilities include taking vitals, checking blood sugars, bed bathing, ambulating, wound care, catheterization and acting as a safety attendant for patients.
• Ensures documentation is accurate and timely.

About the department

The Resource Center is made up of Nurses, Nurse Techs and Behavioral Health Techs. Team members in this department support the unit of greatest need each day at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital. As a part of the Resource Center, team members care for various patient populations and have the experience of supporting a different unit each day. The patients, families, and team members all greatly value and appreciate the help and expertise that the Resource Center team provides daily.

Scope of work

Acts as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider. Performs basic skills per department guidelines and communicates observations to members of the health care team. Collects and reports physiological, psychological, sociocultural and spiritual needs of patients and families in coordination with and as delineated by the RN or Provider. Responsibilities include taking vitals, checking blood sugars, bed bathing, ambulating, wound care, catheterization and acting as a safety attendant for patients. Ensures that the required documentation is performed in an accurate and timely manner.
