Job summary

Logan Regional Medical Center is seeking a Nurse Tech/Assistant for the Rehabilitation Unit. You will support licensed nurses, help patients with daily living activities, and assist with procedures under supervision to promote recovery and safety.

Responsibilities include vital signs monitoring, room preparation, and assisting in therapy sessions while maintaining infection control and patient confidentiality in a fast-paced, acute care environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent including education equivalent to completion of secondary school (preferred).
• BLS Certification required or obtained within hire period.
• Experience in acute or long-term care settings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, feeding, toileting, mobility).
• Monitor vital signs and document accurately.
• Support admissions, transfers, and discharges; prepare rooms and maintain cleanliness.
• Assist in therapy-related activities and use of equipment.
• Respond to call lights and assist promptly; follow RN supervision for restraints.

Job Summary

The Nurse Tech/Assistant – Rehabilitation Unit assists licensed nursing personnel in providing high-quality care to patients undergoing physical and functional rehabilitation. Responsibilities include supporting patients with activities of daily living, assisting with clinical procedures under supervision, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment aligned with the goals of rehabilitation and recovery.

Essential Functions

• Assists with patient care needs including bathing, grooming, feeding, toileting, repositioning, and ambulation.
• Monitors and documents vital signs, intake/output, weight, and patient observations accurately and promptly.
• Provides support during admissions, transfers, and discharges; prepares patient rooms and ensures cleanliness and safety.
• Aids patients in use of assistive devices and equipment during therapy and mobility activities.
• Supports nursing staff with simple treatments such as enemas, hot/cold applications, and specimen collection.
• Responds promptly to patient call lights and requests for assistance.
• Assists in restraint application and monitoring per policy under RN supervision.
• Helps transport patients to therapy sessions, testing, and other departments.
• Provides post-mortem care and prepares bodies for transport to the morgue as needed.
• Maintains a clean and organized patient care environment and stocks supplies.

Qualifications

Education

• High School Diploma or Equivalent including education equivalent to completion of secondary school or demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the role (preferred)

Licenses/Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (Required).
• De-escalation training (Required or obtained within 30 days of hire).

Experience

• At least six (6) months of experience in an acute care or long-term care facility (Preferred).
