Job summary

AdventHealth in Tampa, FL, seeks a Nursing Assistant (PRN/Part-Time) to support patient care under RN supervision. You will document procedures, monitor vitals, assist with treatments, and uphold safety protocols in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, enrollment in or completion of a nursing program within a year, and BLS certification. Benefits from day one and professional development opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

• High School Grad or equivalent required.
• Enrolled in accredited nursing program or completed first semester OR has completed an accredited nursing program within one year and not yet licensed.
• 1+ year nursing assistant experience preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Document and report procedures per department policy.
• Obtain nursing history and evaluate age-appropriate behavior and norms.

Job Description:

Follows CDC isolation guidelines, demonstrates appropriate use of PPE, performs hand hygiene according to policy, and enforces safety regulations. Exemplifies AdventHealth’s core values of Keep Me Safe, Make It Easy, Love Me, and Own It through behavior. Other duties as assigned. Assists in the delivery of patient care by performing tasks under the direction of a registered nurse. Documents and reports all procedures accurately according to department policy. Participates in obtaining nursing history and evaluates age-appropriate behavior, motor skills, and physiological norms, reporting abnormalities to the registered nurse. Performs treatments according to policy and procedure, providing care appropriate to age, mobility, acuity, and culture, and functions appropriately in clinical emergencies. Participates in practice changes from performance improvement activities and supports quality standards and initiatives. Evaluates patients' developmental level, identifies increased physical/emotional dependency needs, and assesses the availability of support systems. Exhibits a desire to learn and upgrades skills.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Must demonstrate ability and understanding of the age-specific care requirements of geriatric, adult, adolescent, and pediatric patient populations, including appropriate selection of patient equipment, communication, and safety needs.
• Requires close attention and mental effort in executing multiple assigned duties, such as recording blood pressures, input & output (I & O), obtaining and documenting blood glucose monitor results, and distributing and collecting dietary trays.
• Ability to float between assignments and adapt to varying healthcare settings.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance with all safety and infection control policies to prevent injury to patients, employees, or self.

Education:

• High School Grad or Equiv [Required]

Field of Study:

• Must be currently enrolled in an accredited school of nursing program and has completed the first semester of Nursing Fundamentals ORhas completed an accredited nursing program within one (1) year and has not obtained their license for Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse.

Work Experience:

• 1+ experience as a nursing assistant [Preferred]

Licenses and Certifications:

• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
