Corewell Health is seeking a Nursing Technician for the Med Surg Care Unit at Pennock Hospital in Hastings, MI. This full‑time day shift role involves direct patient care duties with a patient load that supports safe and compassionate care.

The position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and BLS certification. You will work under RN supervision, contribute to the patient care plan, and collaborate with a dedicated team to deliver quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• BLS certification accepted from AHA or ARC within 90 days of hire.
• Direct patient care experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Take vital signs and monitor patients.
• Check blood sugar as ordered.
• Provide wound care, bed baths and assist with personal hygiene.
• Assist with toileting, ambulation, and catheterization as needed.
• Act as safety attendant when required and assist with postmortem care if necessary.

We pride ourselves on great team work, collaboration and safe personal care for our patients. Regionals also give you the opportunity to have flexibility with your schedule. Nurse to patient ratio 1:5 for days, up to 1:6 on nights.

Scope of Work

The Nursing Technician role is a fast-paced role requiring strong communication and teamwork skills, regardless of the department you are working in. This is a direct patient care role, and duties will include Taking Vitals, Checking Blood Sugar, Wound Care, Bed bathing, Toileting, Ambulating, Catheterization, and acting as safety attendant for patients as needed. Additionally, you could be involved in Postmortem care. Acts as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider. Performs basic skills per department guidelines and communicates observations to members of the health care team. Collects and reports physiological, psychological, sociocultural and spiritual needs of patients and families in coordination with and as delineated by the RN or Provider. Ensures that required documentation is performed in an accurate and timely manner.
