Job description

The Personal Health Services Supervisor (PHSS) provides leadership and operational oversight for the First Steps and The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) programs within Public Health – Seattle & King County. These programs support children and families through care coordination, screening, health promotion, and connection to medical, social, and community resources.

This position supervises multidisciplinary staff delivering services in Public Health Centers, satellite clinics, and community locations throughout King County. The team is comprised of Registered Nurses, Registered Dietitians, Community Health Workers, Nutrition Assistants, Social Workers, and Administrative Support staff. This position may also supervise other disciplines and may expand their supervision to other sites. The Supervisor will have overall responsibility for the daily supervision of the team and be a key member of the site leadership team(s), working with program staff, other supervisors, and community partners.

Staff Supervision and Leadership
  • Supervise First Steps and WIC staff, including hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, coaching, and corrective action.
  • Provide clinical and operational leadership across Public Health Centers, satellite clinics, and community settings.
  • Promote reflective practice, trauma-informed care, staff well-being, collaboration, inclusion, and professional growth.
Program Management and Implementation
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate community health programs and services.
  • Assess program needs, allocate resources, and coordinate staffing to support effective service delivery.
Quality Improvement and Evaluation
  • Support strategic planning, community health planning, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor quality assurance and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Client Experience and Issue Resolution
  • Oversee patient satisfaction surveys and grievance processes.
  • Investigate and resolve client concerns and use feedback from families and community partners to improve services.
Communication, Training, and Collaboration
  • Facilitate team and community partner meetings and provide program-related presentations and training.
  • Build effective relationships with staff, community organizations, and partner agencies.
Administrative Responsibilities
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support program and departmental goals.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or a master's degree in nursing science or a graduate level nursing degree of MSN, DNP or PhD from an accredited school of nursing
  • Washington State Registered Nurse License in good standing
  • Washington State Drivers' License in good standing
  • Current BLS-CPR for Healthcare Providers
  • Experience in maternal and child health, pediatric care coordination, public health, or community-based health programs.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising or leading staff in a healthcare, social service, or public health setting.
Work Schedule

This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), Career Service position with benefits. The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with travel to multiple service sites. This position is exempt and not eligible for overtime. Some schedule flexibility may be required to meet operational needs. This is an onsite position and telework is not permitted.

North Public Health Center at Meridian - 10521 Meridian Ave N, 2nd Floor, Seattle, WA. 98133 and Columbia City Public Health Center – 440 37 Ave S., Seattle, WA, 98118. Kent Public Health Center at East Hill – 25742 104th Ave SE, Kent, WA 98030.

This posting will be used to fill all needs. Interviews for the North Meridian & Columbia opportunity will be held September 17th and 18th. Interviews for the Kent Public Health Center opportunity will be held on September 21st and 22nd.
