Responsibilities

• Responsible for personnel, management, and coordination of nursing service activities for the scheduled working shift, ensuring safe, efficient, and therapeutic patient care.
• Relates with other shifts for continuity of care and, in the absence of the Unit Director, takes charge.
• Oversees staffing levels, approvals for overtime, and notifies management of unfilled vacancies.
• Coordinates distribution of resources and documents actions throughout the shift.
• Initiates and maintains compliance with safety, infection control, and regulatory standards; supports continuous quality improvement.
• Participates in staff meetings, education, and credential maintenance; mentors colleagues and engages in crucial conversations.
• Ensures patient flow, admission/transfer coordination, and communication with units and management.
