Clinical Nurse

FLSA Status : Non-Exempt Reports to: Clinic Manager

OSHA : High Risk Positions Supervised: None

ADA : Negotiable Travel: Minimal, more for Float

Work Schedule:

  • 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday-Thursday, Friday 8 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
  • 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday-Thursday (Eudora & Wilmot), Friday 8 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
  • 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday-Thursday (Portland Only), Friday 8 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
  • 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday-Friday, School Clinics (except Dermott 7:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m.)
Extended hours on Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings are volunteer-based.

Position Summary

The Clinical Nurse supports the care team by assisting Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants in primary healthcare delivery, emphasizing a Patient-Centered Medical Home model.

Essential Functions

  1. Prepare electronic records each morning, ensuring labs, imaging, and referral notes are available.
  2. Triage patients: allergies, vital signs, LMP/birth control, SaO2, weight/height/BMI, immunizations, medication review, subjective notes, emergency interventions, screenings, social history, diabetic foot exam, cancer screenings, and more.
  3. Assist with examinations, specimen collection, and lab deliveries.
  4. Ensure consents are obtained, assist with procedures, administer medications, and manage referrals.
  5. Provide health education, maintain cleanliness, and manage logs (narcotics, crash cart, temperature).
  6. Review immunizations, follow protocols, keep supplies stocked, and ensure safety and confidentiality.
  7. Participate in team meetings, ongoing education, and adhere to workflows supporting the care model.

Reporting Relationships

Directly supervised by the Clinic Manager, with backup to the COO Director of Operations or designated staff during absences.

Physical Demands

Includes lifting, standing, walking, sitting, handling, reaching, climbing, crouching, bending, and handling weights up to 50 lbs, with activity levels varying from occasional to frequent as specified.

Other Physical Requirements

Vision, hearing, and tactile senses for job performance.

Evaluation

Performance is ongoing, with annual reviews conducted by the Clinic Manager and the Director of Operations, based on duties, attitude, and work behavior.

Qualifications

  • Current Arkansas RN or LPN license.
  • Experience preferred but not required.
  • Computer proficiency, BLS certification, ability to lift 50 lbs, and effective communication skills.

Salary

Negotiated based on established scales, with bilingual premium of $0.50/hour.

Status

FLSA Non-Exempt, OSHA low risk, ADA negotiable, and a safety-sensitive position under Arkansas law.
