Job summary

Orlando Health's 11LP Digestive Health Unit is seeking a compassionate RN to administer bedside care on a 30-bed unit. This role supports patients undergoing digestive procedures and collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to plan and manage care.

You will work day shifts, participate in patient education, and follow evidence-based standards while supporting family needs and transitions in care.

Qualifications

  • Nursing graduate with RN licensure in Florida.
  • Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
  • Demonstrates bedside assessment and care planning.

Responsibilities

  • Administers bedside patient care in hospital/inpatient settings under supervision.
  • Assesses patient needs and revises care plans based on responses.
  • Communicates with medical staff and interdisciplinary team to manage unit care.
  • Maintains patient safety and accurate documentation of care.
  • Prioritizes patient care according to evidence-based standards.

Position Summary
  • Day shift from 6:45 am - 7:15 pm
  • THREE SHIFTS EACH WEEK

The 11LP Digestive Health Unit is a 30-bed unit dedicated to caring for patients before and after their procedure at the Digestive Health Institute. Orlando Health Digestive Health Institute is an international destination for care, offering comprehensive and coordinated services to evaluate, diagnose and treat a wide range of conditions affecting the digestive tract and gastrointestinal organs. The institute has distinguished itself worldwide in offering many diagnostic and treatment options, including artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities that improve diagnosis, treatment, and outcomes.

This is one small step in our journey towards establishing a solid organ transplant program. The newly dedicated unit will enable us to provide specialized training to a core team of nurses and staff to meet the specific needs of patients who travel 500 miles to see us and are admitted with complex digestive health problems and be familiar with cutting-edge clinical research protocols.

Responsibilities
  • Administers bedside patient care in a hospital or inpatient/observation setting under the supervision of a preceptor, leader, and/or charge nurse.
  • Assesses patients' needs and develops/revises individualized plans of care based on their needs and responses. Evaluates patients' progress toward attaining expected outcomes.
  • Respects diversity by building respectful relationships with all team members and customers.
  • Functions as an advocate for patients and their families.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on their assigned unit/department.
  • Serves as a preceptor, charge nurse, unit educator, and/or nurse clinician.
  • Communicates and collaborates with medical staff and the interdisciplinary team to effectively plan and manage the unit/department.
  • Serves as a role model for staff and supports the hospital and nursing department's goals and strategies.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span, assesses data reflective of the patient's status, and interprets the necessary information to identify each patient's requirements relative to their age- specific needs.
  • Coordinates patient care for a defined group and delegates tasks appropriately to team members.
  • Documents patient care in a knowledgeable, skillful, and consistent manner, meeting all required and regulatory standards. This includes, but is not limited to, patient assessment, education, medication administration, treatments, and patient safety.
  • Demonstrates competency in nursing skills and the use of patient care/unit equipment as defined by unit/department-specific requisite skills.
  • Prioritizes patient care in an ongoing manner in accordance with Evidence-Based Practice Standards of Care.
Qualifications
  • Nursing school graduate.
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida or valid Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) multistate RN license.
  • Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification
