Prisma Health invites new graduate nurses to join a 12-month Nurse Residency Program designed to bridge the gap from student to practicing nurse. The program features high-quality classes, simulation training, preceptor-guided hands-on practice, and networking with peers across Prisma Health hospitals.

Eligibility includes graduating from an accredited nursing program and holding an SC or Compact RN/LPN license.

Nurse Residency Program: Launch Your Career with Confidence

Prisma Health is committed to giving new graduate nurses a strong start to their careers. Our 12-month Nurse Residency Program (NRP) provides a supportive bridge from student to professional nurse, offering:

• High-quality classes and simulation training.
• One-on-one skills validation and hands‑on practice with preceptors.
• Networking opportunities with fellow graduates.
• Exposure to diverse nursing roles across all Prisma Health hospitals.
• Week 1: Clinical orientation introducing Prisma Health's values, clinical excellence standards, and required regulatory education.
• Weeks 2 to 9: Residents work 2 to 3 shifts per week on their assigned unit with a dedicated preceptor. This is combined with specialty‑specific classes that cover essential topics such as healthcare foundations, behavioral health, crucial conversations, emergency response, stroke care, respiratory care, and other skill competencies specific to the clinical setting.
• Weeks 10 to 52: Completion of unit orientation and transition to practice, followed by ongoing quarterly professional development training and skill refreshers to support your growth and confidence throughout your first year.

Program Requirements

• Education: Graduate from an accredited nursing program (ADN/ASN, BSN, MSN, or LPN).
• Experience: Have less than 12 months of paid work experience as an RN or LPN.
• Licensure: Must have a current South Carolina or Compact State RN/LPN license, issued no later than the Wednesday before the program start date.
• Start date eligibility: Apply to a cohort that begins at least 45 days after the expected graduation date from a nursing program.

September/October 2026

• New graduate nurses graduating in August 2026 or earlier with less than 1 year of RN/LPN work experience.
• Applications open on 05/04/2026 and close on 08/28/2026.
• Interviews and offers will occur between May and August.

Nurse Residency Service Lines

Residency positions are available based on unit staffing needs. As a result, not all units or service lines accept nurse residents in every cohort. Available units and service lines will be posted on the career website once applications open for each cohort.

We want to support you as you grow and develop in your nursing career. We understand that pursuing a higher education can be challenging and costly. That's why we have partnered with Bright Horizons EdAssist Solutions to offer a tuition assistance program designed to help ease the financial burden.

Interview Travel Accomodations

We want to make interviews with our team as easy and accessible as possible. If you are selected for an interview and would like to meet with us in person, contact your Nurse Residency Recruiter. We can arrange travel accommodations or reimburse mileage for your trip to the interview.

We are excited to offer RNs a $2,500 taxable sign‑on bonus for specific units and LPNS a $1,000 sign‑on bonus for specific units. Visit our sign‑on bonus page to view current eligible opportunities. This bonus is also available to internal hires joining the Nurse Residency Program.

We are committed to supporting students in every way possible. We currently offer up to $5,250 in tax‑free annual student loan repayment support for both full‑time and part‑time team members.
