Job description

Nurse Practitioner, Ostomy and Wound Program

Reports directly to the Assistant Director, Wound Program and is supervised by the program Medical Director.

Responsibilities
  • Provide wound care and ostomy management and education to inpatients and outpatients.
  • Exercise independent clinical judgment to examine, diagnose, and treat patients in collaboration with supervising physicians.
  • Serve as a case manager, planning, evaluating, and implementing patient care within the framework of the State Nursing Practice Act.
  • Participate in the program’s daily operations and deliver direct patient care.
  • Educate and coach nursing team members to ensure optimal wound and ostomy care, efficient resource utilization, and accurate documentation.
  • Integrate age‑ and development‑specific care, institutional goals, and current best practice standards into patient management.
Qualifications
  • Three to five years of acute ostomy or wound care RN nursing experience in an acute care hospital.
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing (or equivalency). Certified nurse practitioner (NP) in California or another state prior to January12008.
  • Graduate of an approved Nurse Practitioner program.
  • National certification in ostomy as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
  • Current California NP license and RN license.
  • Board of Registered Nursing furnishing license required.
  • Certification from ANCC or AANP as a nurse practitioner.
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification.
  • Advanced wound certification (e.g., Certified Wound Specialist (CWS) or Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nursing (WOCN)) preferred.
  • Active DEA number for ScheduleII‑V drugs (optional).

Work Hours and Compensation

Assigned Work Hours: Per Diem, 2–4 the 8‑hour days per pay period. Pay Range (based on years of applicable experience): $100.73 to $134.72 per hour; hourly evening shift differential $5.41; hourly night shift differential $8.11.
