Job summary

Penn State Health Hershey Medical Center is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join a multidisciplinary health care team. The NP will assess, diagnose, and manage health conditions, exercising authority in health promotion and disease management across the patient continuum.

The role emphasizes utilization of the nursing process, scientific reasoning, and prescriptive authority within PA regulations and hospital policies. Day shift, full-time, with varied hours.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in nursing required.
  • National certification as an Advanced Practice Nurse.
  • Current CRNP license by Pennsylvania Board of Nurse Examiners.
  • Two years of RN experience required.
  • BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a wide range of patient services to a specific population across the continuum of health care.
  • Practice within the scope of responsibilities and prescriptive authority defined by the PA State Board of Nursing and Medical Staff at Penn State Hershey Medical Center.

Education

Master’s Degree in Nursing
National certification as an Advanced Practice Nurse
Current CRNP license (Pennsylvania Board of Nurse Examiners)
Two years’ RN work experience
Basic Life Support Certification (BLS)

SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is an expert in pathophysiology, physical assessment and diagnosis, pharmacology and exercises authority in health promotion and disease management. The NP functions as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team and provides a wide range of patient services to a specific patient population across the continuum of health care. By utilizing the nursing process, scientific reasoning and critical problem solving, NPs practice within the scope of responsibilities and prescriptive authority defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing and the Medical Staff Executive at the Penn State Hershey Medical Center.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S)
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing
  • National certification as an Advanced Practice Nurse
  • Current license to practice as CRNP by Pennsylvania Board of Nurse Examiners
  • Two (2) years' work experience as an RN
  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS)
