Job summary

Midwest Express Clinic is seeking a Family Nurse Practitioner for our North Suburban Chicago locations (Skokie, Northbrook). The role leads clinical care with physicians and staff to deliver high-quality, compassionate urgent and primary care.

Candidates must have a NP degree and active IL/IN license, with the ability to treat patients across the lifespan. Scheduling requires weekends/evenings/holidays with flexibility across multiple clinics.

Qualifications

  • Master's or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Active Family Nurse Practitioner license in Illinois and/or Indiana.
  • Ability to treat patients across the lifespan.
  • Strong clinical decision-making and procedural skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients of all ages with acute illnesses and injuries.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans using evidence-based medicine.
  • Order, interpret, and communicate diagnostic testing including lab and radiology results.
  • Perform procedures: Laceration repair; Incision and drainage; Foreign body removal; Splinting; Nail procedures; Injections; DOT physicals; Occupational medicine services.
  • Prescribe medications and therapies within scope of practice.
  • Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in the EMR.
  • Deliver compassionate, efficient care while creating a welcoming environment.
  • Communicate diagnoses, treatment plans, follow-up care, and education clearly.
  • Support service excellence with professionalism and empathy.
  • Address patient concerns proactively and contribute to positive outcomes.
  • Serve as clinical resource and promote teamwork and continuous improvement.
  • Assist with onboarding and development of new staff.
  • Collaborate with physicians and operational leaders.
  • Support goals related to patient flow, efficiency, and quality metrics.
  • Participate in quality programs and infection control initiatives.
  • Adapt to varying volumes and locations as needed.

The Role

The Family Nurse Practitioner serves as a key clinical leader within the clinic, providing evidence-based care services while fostering an exceptional patient experience. This role partners closely with Medical Assistants, Radiologic Technologists, leadership, and physicians to deliver efficient, high-quality care that aligns with MEC's standards for service, safety, and operational excellence.

Our providers are expected to balance clinicalexpertisewithstrong communication, teamwork, and a hospitality-minded approach to patient care.

Responsibilities
ClinicalExcellence
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients of all ages presenting with acute illnesses and injuries
  • Develop and implementappropriate treatmentplansutilizingevidence-based medicine
  • Order, interpret, and communicate diagnostic testing including laboratory and radiology results
  • Perform procedures including:

Required:

  • Master's or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
  • Active Family Nurse Practitioner license in Illinois and/or Indiana

Preferred:

  • Urgent Care, Emergency Medicine, Family Practice, or Occupational Medicine experience
  • Experience performing common urgent care procedures
  • DOT Certification (or willingness to obtain)

  • Flexibility to support multiple clinic locations
Compensation

The expected salary range for this position is$125,000-130,000, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications.
