Job summary

Excelsior Springs Hospital seeks a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to deliver outpatient psychiatric evaluations and medication management for adults, adolescents, and children. You will work under a Collaborative Practice Agreement, maintain BLS, and provide high-quality patient care.

The role supports scheduling, documentation, and coordination with care teams. Requires MO PMHNP license and a DATA 2000 waiver, with experience preferred. Base pay ranges 135k–157k yearly.

Qualifications

• Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner license in the state MO
• DATA 2000 Waiver (May be obtained after hire)
• Maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association or preapproved provider
• One year of previous experience highly preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide psychiatric services to clients in clinical settings during scheduled hours.
• Assess, diagnose, and treat adults, adolescents, and children with behavioral health disorders.
• Prescribe, recommend, or discontinue drugs per Collaborative Practice Agreement and state Nurse Practice Act.
• Collaborate with counselors, social workers, or other treatment team members to coordinate client care.
• Complete medical records, treatment plans, progress notes, outcomes measures, and billing entries.
• Counsel clients during appointments as necessary.
• Design/participate in development of individualized treatment plans incorporating best practices.
• Examine or order laboratory or diagnostic tests to provide information on health and mental disorders.
• Collaborate with guardians, relatives, and significant others when appropriate.
• Prepare and submit assessments, progress notes, reports, and summaries to entities/agencies as required.
• Return calls and emails promptly.
• Make independent decisions based on protocols and national guidelines for treatment interventions.
• Maintain customer relations with all agency staff and clients.
• Record services for accurate billing in compliance with laws and payor rules.
• Look for ways to improve and promote quality; provide teaching to clinical staff if requested.
• Follow all procedures and protocols per policy and regulations.
• Participate in education, training, and in-services to stay current.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Return calls and emails promptly.
• Responsible for making independent decisions based on protocols developed utilizing national guidelines for treatment interventions.
• Responsible for maintaining customer relations with all agency staff and clients.
• Records all services performed for accurate billing for services provided in compliance with all local, state, and federal laws, as well as payor rules and regulations. Submits billing documents in a timely fashion.
• Looks for ways to improve and promote quality. Provides teaching and education to clinical staff, if requested.
• Follow all procedures and protocols as per policy, federal and state regulations, standard practice, and in accordance with the Collaborative Practice Agreement.
• Actively participate in all agency and department education, training, and in-services to confirm understanding of new information or changes to established clinical policies and procedures.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
