Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Certified Nurse Practitioner to provide primary care services for Veterans at the Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center in Parsons, KS.

The APN will practice in Primary Care, delivering a full range of services with emphasis on quality and timely care. The NP will work as an independent practitioner with national certification, applying evidence-based care and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team.

Qualifications

  • Licensed independent practitioner with advanced education and national certification.
  • NPs must be licensed to practice in the state and meet VA qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Independently manages a panel of patients with acute and chronic health conditions with emphasis on health promotion and disease prevention.
  • Develops and implements an individualized plan to achieve optimal population health and disease management.
  • Demonstrates leadership and collaborates with Primary Care Team and other interdisciplinary members.
  • Orders and interprets labs, tests, and diagnostic studies.
  • Prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions.
  • Initiates referrals to specialty services and provides patient education.
  • Assess and adjust the plan of care to achieve optimal outcomes.

Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) - a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval - award amount (up to $200 -000) & eligibility period (1-5 years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.

Duties
  • The Robert J Dole VA Medical Center (VAMC) is seeking a full-time Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) that will be responsible for providing Primary Care services to Veterans of the Robert J
  • Dole VAMC in Parsons - KS! The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) practices in Primary Care Service to provide a full range of services emphasizing quality - timeliness - and the advancement of the Veterans Affairs (VA) mission
  • The NP provides advanced clinical practice - consultation - and management
  • The NP is a licensed independent practitioner with advanced education and national certification who provides evidence-based care for a population of patients
  • Major duties and responsibilities of the position include but not limited to: Independently manages a panel of patients with acute and chronic health conditions with an emphasis on health promotion and disease prevention using evidence-based practice
