Job summary

UW Medicine is seeking a skilled Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to lead regional wound care teams. The role involves weekly wound rounds and house calls, high-quality skin and wound care, and collaborative care with dermatology, podiatry, vascular surgery, and infectious disease.

Applicants must hold an active NP or PA license with 1–2 years of wound care experience preferred; strong leadership and communication skills are essential.

  • Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license for regional travel.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Responsibilities

  • Lead multidisciplinary wound care teams across care locations with weekly rounds and house calls.

  • Order and interpret labs to guide care and build treatment plans aligned with guidelines.
  • Maintain timely documentation in the EMR to track healing progress.
  • Collaborate virtually with physicians and specialists across wound care, dermatology, podiatry, and infectious disease.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Lead multidisciplinary wound care teams across assigned care locations, conducting weekly wound rounds and house calls within your region
  • Deliver high-quality skin and wound care every visit, including assessment, dressing application, pressure relief, pain/odor management, and minor surgical procedures
  • Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic studies to guide care decisions and build individualized treatment plans aligned with UWH's Clinical Practice Guidelines
  • Maintain timely documentation in UWH's wound care EMR to track healing progress
  • Collaborate virtually with UWH's board-certified medical physicians and surgeons across wound care, dermatology, podiatry, vascular surgery, and infectious disease
Requirements
  • Board Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP, FNP, ARNP, APRN) or Physician Assistant/Associate (PA-C), licensed in the state of employment
  • 1–2 years of wound care and/or surgical experience preferred but not required – extensive paid training is provided
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and current auto insurance – this role covers a regional territory
  • Ability to stand for extended periods in a fast-paced clinical setting
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills – you’ll work with patients, families, nursing staff, and medical leadership daily
  • Self-starter who can schedule and manage appointments independently with punctuality and professionalism
