Job summary

Henry Ford Health Macomb Hospital in Michigan is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the Surgical Intensive Care Unit's collaborative team. You will provide comprehensive inpatient care to critically ill patients, performing assessments, diagnoses, and treatments in coordination with physicians, intensivists, and nursing staff.

A minimum of one year ICU experience as an APR is required.

Qualifications

• One year ICU experience as an APR is required.
• NP or PA graduate from an accredited program.
• Current Michigan licensure or in-process.
• National certification (ANCC, AANP, or NCCPA).

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient care to critically ill patients in the ICU.
• Perform procedures consistent with credentialing and experience.
• Collaborate with intensivists, physicians, nursing staff and the interdisciplinary team.
• Participate in rounds, education and care coordination.

Position Overview:

Henry Ford Health Macomb Hospital is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our collaborative Critical Care team in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU). This position offers the opportunity to deliver comprehensive inpatient care to critically ill patients, serving as a first-line provider responsible for patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment, education, consultation, and care coordination in collaboration with patients, families, intensivists, physicians, nursing staff, and the interdisciplinary care team. The Advanced Practice Provider will also perform procedures consistent with credentialing, training, and experience. A minimum of one year of Critical Care (ICU) experience as an Advanced Practice Provider is required.

Credentials:

Education & Training

• Physician Assistant (PA): Completion of a Physician Assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA)
• Nurse Practitioner (NP): Completion of a Nurse Practitioner program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC)

Licensure

• Current licensure as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in the State of Michigan, or in the process of applying (proof of application required).

Certification

• PA: Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
• NP: National certification by a certification body recognized by the State of Michigan (e.g., ANCC, AANP)

Required Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) – required
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – required (may be obtained after hire)

DEA / Controlled Substance Licensure

• PA: DEA and Michigan Controlled Substance License (CSL) required through credentialing
• NP: DEA registration required through credentialing; NPs do not hold a Michigan CSL and will use their Michigan license number during the application process
