Job summary

Duke Health Integrated Practice is looking for an Advanced Practice Provider to join their primarily obstetric team. Responsibilities include conducting patient exams, prescribing treatments, and providing education on women's health issues.

Candidates should have a Master's degree, proper licensure in North Carolina, and hold BLS certification. A supportive work environment and competitive salary are offered. Experience in High-Risk Obstetrics is preferred.

Advanced Practice Provider – Duke MFM (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant)

Overview

The Private Diagnostic Clinic (PDC) of Duke Health is a world‑class, multi‑specialty physician practice comprising over 140 clinics throughout North Carolina. Key Locations

Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology – Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine, primarily at Duke Perinatal Consultants of Cary, Raleigh and Duke Perinatal Consultants of Durham.

Responsibilities
  • Collect patient histories, conduct physical examinations, and record data in the patient’s medical record; write progress notes; prepare patient workups and summaries noting pertinent positive and negative findings; obtain psychosocial history relevant to patient care; and assume responsibility for developing therapeutic relationships with patients.
  • Order, schedule, and review laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures; explain the necessity, preparation, nature, and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient.
  • Perform the new obstetric exam, identify complications in pregnancy, conduct fetal heart rate assessment, non‑stress test interpretation, and pelvic exams for ante‑partum and labor assessment.
  • Initiate plans of care, diagnostic testing, laboratory interpretation, and treatment plans tailored to each patient’s medical and surgical history; prescribe necessary treatments and services; report progress to the collaborating physician and maintain a record of each patient’s progress.
  • Provide patient education relating to pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum care.
  • Collaborate with other NP/PAs to ensure clinic and telephone triage coverage.
  • Provide gynecological care such as family‑planning counseling, IUD/Nexplanon placement and removal, and screening and treatment for sexually transmitted infections.
  • Perform additional essential job functions as directed by the supervising physician.

Preference for applicants with 2+ years of Women’s Health APP experience, specifically in High‑Risk Obstetrics.

Qualifications
  • PA: Must be licensed by the North Carolina Medical Board and board‑certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
  • NP: Must hold a current or compact RN license in North Carolina and be approved to practice by the Board of Nursing; must be board‑certified from a national certifying board in the appropriate patient focus. Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
  • Both: Master’s degree or higher required. Must demonstrate and maintain credentialing and licensing requirements of the Private Diagnostic Clinic and Duke Health, including current DEA licensure.
