Duke Health Cardiology - 40 Medicine Circle Clinic 2F/2G Durham, NC 27710

Job Summary

We are seeking an Advanced Practice Provider for our Duke Cardiology Clinic in Durham, NC, to provide direct patient care services in collaboration with our heart failure cardiology team. The patient population will include those with heart failure and other cardiology conditions.

The APP will work collaboratively with physicians and other advanced practice providers, collecting and documenting data, conducting diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, ordering and scheduling laboratory studies and consultations, and providing direct patient care.

The position is full-time (40 hours/week), with primary hours Monday through Friday, flexible to meet patient and division needs.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Take patient histories, conduct physical exams, document data, write progress notes, and develop patient workups and summaries, noting relevant findings. Establish therapeutic relationships with patients.
  • Order and schedule laboratory and diagnostic procedures; explain procedures to patients.
  • Review and interpret laboratory and diagnostic results, communicating findings to patients.
  • Make medical decisions and create care plans.
  • Collaborate with Heart Center Communications to triage urgent calls.
  • Coordinate with other NP/PAs for clinic and phone coverage.

Job Eligibility Requirements

Education

  • Nurse Practitioners: Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with a Master's degree in Nursing.
  • Physician Assistants: Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program; Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred.

Certification

  • ACLS certification prior to or within 3 months of employment.
  • BLS certification required.

License

  • Nurse Practitioners: Current or compact RN license in North Carolina, national NP certification, and BLS certification.
  • Physician Assistants: Licensed in NC and certified by the NCCPA.

Experience

  • At least 1 year of Cardiology APP experience preferred, especially in heart failure.

Job Hours

Monday-Friday, day shift, with flexibility to meet clinic needs.
