Qualifications

A Brief Overview

Join the Cardiac Catheterization Lab at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), where you will be part of a highly specialized team caring for infants, children, adolescents, and adults with congenital heart disease. Our team performs more than 1,400 cardiac catheterization procedures each year, utilizing advanced technology and innovative techniques to diagnose and treat complex congenital heart conditions.

As a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, you will collaborate closely with world-leading interventional cardiologists and a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care to patients undergoing cardiac catheterization procedures. This is an exciting opportunity to practice in a highly specialized environment while contributing to CHOP’s commitment to clinical excellence, innovation, research, and education.

The Cardiac Catheterization Lab treats a broad range of congenital and acquired cardiac conditions, including aortic stenosis, atrial septal defects, pulmonary stenosis, patent ductus arteriosus, single ventricle heart defects, Tetralogy of Fallot, and other complex congenital heart conditions.

CHOP is also at the forefront of developing and advancing minimally invasive cardiac procedures, offering patients innovative treatment options that can reduce or eliminate the need for open-heart surgery. Our commitment to research and clinical trials provides APPs with opportunities to contribute to advances in pediatric cardiac care and improve outcomes for patients with complex heart disease.

What You Will Do
  • Utilizes advanced assessment skills to manage a cohort of patients. Performs and documents daily assessments. Collects and analyzes data and formulates a family-centered plan of care.
  • Performs any needed advanced procedures that are listed in the Scope of Practice Document and approved as a part of the credentialing process.
  • Evaluates and monitors the effectiveness of the prescribed treatment plan. Using the most current evidence, modifies the plan of care based on the effectiveness of the treatment and the patient/family response to the plan.
  • Serves as an educational resource to the patient/family, nursing staff, and provider team. Acts as a consultant to multidisciplinary health care team members.
  • Participates in scholarly activities including research and education. Participates in own professional development by maintaining required competencies, identifying learning needs and seeking appropriate educational offerings. Participates in the professional development of others. Acts as a preceptor and mentor to support the development of nurses, nurse practitioners, students, and other health care providers.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to patient safety by speaking up about safety issues and changing practice to enhance safety. Shares errors or potential errors through system reporting mechanisms. Demonstrates shared accountability for safe practice.
Education Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree Nursing Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree Physician Assistant - Required
  • Master’s Degree Physician Assistant - Preferred
Skills And Abilities
  • Ability to work in an inter-professional team setting with multiple responsibilities.
  • Ability to use computer and electronic medical records effectively.

Licenses and Certifications
  • Registered Nurse (Pennsylvania) - Pennsylvania State Licensing Board - upon hire - Required
  • Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) (Pennsylvania) - Pennsylvania State Licensing Board - upon hire - Required and
  • Prescriptive Authority (Pennsylvania) - Pennsylvania State Licensing Board - within 3 months - Required and

Salary Range

$107,200.00 - $142,100.00 Annually

Salary ranges are shown for full-time jobs. If you’re working part-time, your pay will be adjusted accordingly.

This job is eligible for an incentive program.
