Job summary

The South Bend Clinic seeks a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Pain Management Eddy Street team in South Bend. You will perform patient examinations, develop care plans, treat minor illnesses, and coordinate with supervising physicians within established protocols.

• Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
• National certification (ANCC) and active state licensure as PA/APN.
• Current CPR (BLS) certification; DEA license may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient examinations, develop care plans, and treat minor illnesses and injuries per protocols.
• Order labs, imaging, and other tests; coordinate referrals to appropriate physicians.
• Prescribe medications within scope with physician oversight; educate patients and families.

Assist with procedures or conduct invasive/non-invasive procedures within scope of practiceOrders laboratory, x-ray, and/or other non-invasive diagnostic tests and procedures. Initiate collaboration with supervising physicians, referrals to appropriate physicians or other health care professionals of problems that exceed the NPs scope of practice. Finish a communication to referring provider or supervising physician.Prescribe medications within scope of practice, with collaborative physician oversight and necessary mid-level practitioner-controlled substance licenseInstruct patients and families on healthcare, illness prevention, and home care, adjusting communication to the patient's age, psycho-social, and cultural needs to achieve optimal health outcomes in accordance with practice protocols.
