Job summary

Insight Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago is seeking a Pain Management Nurse Practitioner to provide primary health care within their Pain Management program and to collaborate with the medical staff to meet patient needs.

The role involves planning and implementing care plans, prescribing treatments, and contributing to patient and family education materials while upholding the hospital's mission of compassionate, high-quality care.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Master's degree in Nursing required.
  • Current RN license in the State of Illinois required.
  • Current APN license in the State of Illinois required.
  • DEA License required at time of hire.
  • Certification as an advanced practice nurse by the appropriate certifying organization required.
  • Clinical experience in Pain Management and working with Chronic Pain.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a role model and advocate in the delivery of compassionate, comprehensive care to patients and their families.
  • Utilize expert knowledge, skills, and abilities to strengthen clinical practice in their specialty throughout the organization.
  • Provide expert nursing care to the Pain Management patient population.
  • Evaluate patient outcomes and revise plan of care accordingly, discuss health care plan with the patient and healthcare team, and documents in the health record.
  • Prescribe and treat patients accordingly.
  • Participates in the development and evaluation of patient and family education materials.
  • Consult with staff in the development of teaching plans for patients and their families.
  • Act as an internal consultant to staff and the community on healthcare issues in the area of Pain Management.
  • Round up to 2 days/week at local nursing homes and/or assisted living facilities.

The Pain Management Nurse Practitioner is assigned responsibility for the primary health care of patients in their area of expertise as well as special health care under the direction of members of the medical staff. Evaluation and care of patients occur within the scope of practice defined and agreed to by members of the administrative team and medical staff. The nurse practitioner plans and implements, and a physician reviews and confirms health care goals for patients and their families. The nurse practitioner works closely with the staff to ensure that patient needs are met. These duties are to be performed in a highly confidential manner, following the mission, values, and behaviors of Insight Hospital and Medical Center. Employees are further expected to provide a high quality of care, service, and kindness toward all patients, staff, physicians, volunteers, and guests.
