Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to support the Section of Surgical Oncology in a busy, state-of-the-art facility in Downtown Jacksonville.

The role includes intraoperative first-assist duties (robotic, laparoscopic, and open cases), inpatient rounds, postoperative wound care, and timely coordination of discharges within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Oncology-focused clinical skills and interest.
• Experience with gastrointestinal oncology is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Serve as first assistant in the OR for surgical oncology cases.
• Rounding on postoperative inpatients and managing wound care.
• Coordinate discharge planning with the care team.
• Evaluate new consults and perform outpatient procedures as applicable.

The ideal candidate will have experience or a strong interest in oncology and surgical specialties.Responsibilities Include:Patient population: Providing care for patients with malignant and complex conditions of the gastrointestinal tract (including liver, pancreas, gallbladder, and stomach), skin, and soft tissues (including melanoma and sarcoma)Inpatient care:First-assistant in the OR (robot, laparoscopic, open cases).Rounding on patients in the acute post-operative phase who are admitted to the hospital for surgical oncology and colorectal surgeryPost-operative wound care and pain managementTimely collaboration with consulting physiciansCoordinating discharges from the hospitalEvaluation of new consults.Outpatient Care: evaluates new and existing patients in collaboration with staff physicians, as well as a multidisciplinary team, completes outpatient documentation in a timely fashion, and performs clinic procedures as applicable.Hours: Monday – FridayShared night and weekend call: home call for service during the week, and weekend call with inpatient rounding and OR coverage for emergency cases.Primary Location:Downtown - BMDA Building
