Providence Cancer Institute of Oregon in Portland is seeking a full-time nurse practitioner or physician assistant to join the Oncology Palliative Care team at Providence Oncology and Hematology Care Clinic on the campus of Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Southwest Portland.

The Advanced Practice Clinician will provide expert symptom management for cancer patients, develop individualized treatment plans, coordinate care with a multidisciplinary team, and educate patients and families

Qualifications

  • Must be a licensed Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
  • Minimum of 2 years of palliative care APC experience; oncology/cancer care preferred.
  • Demonstrates confident, independent clinical judgment and strong collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Comfortable exercising autonomy while providing compassionate, evidence-based palliative care for cancer patients.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert symptom management for cancer patients in outpatient setting.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with Medical Director.
  • Coordinate care and facilitate communication among patients, families, and the care team.
  • Educate patients and caregivers about diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, side effects, and symptom management strategies.

Job description

Providence Cancer Institute of Oregon is seeking a full-time nurse practitioner or physician associate to join the Oncology Palliative Care team at Providence Oncology and Hematology Care Clinic, located on the campus of Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Southwest Portland. The ideal candidate is a confident, compassionate Advanced Practice Clinician who is comfortable exercising independent clinical judgment, thrives in a patient-centered environment, and values the shared knowledge and partnership of experienced colleagues.

In this specialized outpatient role, you will play an integral part in improving quality of life for patients living with cancer by providing expert symptom management for acute and chronic cancer-related conditions. Working with a high degree of autonomy and under the guidance of the Medical Director, you will help develop individualized treatment plans, facilitate communication and care coordination, and support patients and families through complex treatment journeys.

As a member of an established and supportive oncology program, you will collaborate closely with Medical Oncologists and a multidisciplinary team that includes Registered Nurses, Patient Navigators, Researchers, Social Workers, Nutritionists, Integrative Medicine specialists, Clinical Pharmacists, and other allied health professionals. This role also includes educating patients and caregivers about diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, potential side effects, and symptom management strategies.   • Nurse Practitioner or Physician Associate (NP or PA)
  • Minimum of 2 years of palliative care experience as an APC required; oncology/cancer care experience strongly preferred
