UAB Medicine seeks an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) for the Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit (NICU) anesthesia critical care team. The role focuses on inpatient critical care, patient assessments, and interdisciplinary coordination for neurosurgery/neurology patients in a Level I trauma center.
The NICU is a 36-bed unit; you work within an interdisciplinary team, performing exams, daily progress notes, and bedside procedures while contributing to rounds and care planning.
Full‑time, benefited. 12‑hour rotating / blended shifts, 5am‑5pm or 5pm‑5am (14–16 shifts per month). Weekends and holidays are required.
A $10,000 sign‑on bonus may be available.
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) position for the Anesthesia Critical Care team in the Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit (NICU) includes providing inpatient critical care services and participating within an interdisciplinary team serving as a consult/co‑managing service for Neurosurgery & Neurology patients admitted to the NICU. Each APP utilizes the skill set of performing physical exams, obtaining history and physical assessments, completing daily progress notes, structuring and facilitating medical management of critically ill patients, performing approved routine bedside procedures, and participating in multidisciplinary rounds and coordinating care with admitting and consulting services. The Neuroscience ICU (NICU) is a 36‑bed intensive care unit providing treatment and care to neurosurgery, neurology, stroke, and trauma patients at a LevelI Trauma Center. UAB Neurology and Neurosurgery is consistently ranked among the top 50 programs nationally. UAB is also Alabama’s first Comprehensive Stroke Center.
