Job Summary
Geisinger ConvenientCare urgent care is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our urgent care team in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
Job Duties
Our clinicians diagnose and treat common medical problems including sore throats, earaches, sinus infections, flu, urinary tract infections and more. Routine health exams, immunizations, screenings, and wellness services are also provided.

- Recruitment incentive of $10,000 for new hires
- Office hours: Monday – Friday 8:45 am – 8:15 pm; Saturday & Sunday 7:45 am – 6:15 pm
- 14 rotating shifts per month
- No overnight shifts and no mandated additional shifts
- Work every other weekend
- Approximately six nights of on‑call per year
- No direct patient call for critical lab, CT, etc.
- Six observed holidays: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day
- Work autonomously with limited administrative burden

Qualifications
Due to the autonomous nature of the position, advanced practitioners must be able to treat patients from age one and older and have a minimum of six months advanced practitioner experience in primary care, emergency medicine, urgent care, or critical care.
Requirements for a Physician Assistant:
- Completion of an ARC‑PA (or predecessor organization) approved physician assistant program
- Current NCCPA certification or eligibility
- Pennsylvania state licensure
Requirements for a Nurse Practitioner:
- Certificate of completion from an approved nurse practitioner program or eligibility for national certification that allows practice in the patient populations and location settings of this position
- Eligibility for licensure as a nurse practitioner in Pennsylvania
Education: Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant (required).
Certification(s) and License(s):
- Certified Physician Assistant – National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
- Basic Life Support Certification – Default Issuing Body
