Ochsner Health in Covington, Louisiana, is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide primary and urgent medical management. The role involves collaborating with various healthcare professionals to deliver care, teach residents and medical students, and ensure effective patient education.
The ideal candidate will possess a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant disciplines and relevant certifications. A flexible work schedule is required, which includes nights and weekends.
This job works in a collaborative model including residents, fellows, attendings, and staff who care for outpatient clinic patients. It is performed under the supervision of the Medical Director or approved staff physician and in association with PCCs, staff nurses, and discharge coordinators in planning, implementation, and evaluation of medical and nursing care. Responsibilities include primary and urgent medical management, emergency stabilization of critically ill patients, teaching of residents and medical students, staff development and education, patient education, and discharge planning.

Required: Master’s degree in Nursing
Required: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physician Assistant medicine or Health Sciences, or graduate of an approved Physician Assistant Training Program

Required: Current license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the state of practice; Family or Adult/Geriatric Nurse Practitioner ANCC or AANPCP Certified; Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) / Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification from the American Heart Association; Eligible for prescriptive authority in the state of practice.
Required: License as a Physician Assistant in the state of practice, NCCPA Certified; Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) / Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification; Eligible for prescriptive authority in the state of practice.
Physical and Environmental Demands: Medium work. Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds frequently, or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds constantly. Requires standing for prolonged periods, stooping, bending, reaching and grabbing with arms. May require exposure to blood, body fluid, tissue, communicable diseases, hazardous medications, and hazardous waste.
