Job description

In this role, you will collaborate closely with our team of skilled physicians in diagnosing, managing, and treating chronic pain and work‑related injuries. As a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA), you will be entrusted with evaluating and treating selected patients within the designated service area. Your responsibilities will encompass physical examinations, direct patient interactions (both in‑person and through electronic means), seamless coordination of care with department colleagues to meet established quality benchmarks, and active involvement in the overall patient care orchestration. Flexibility is vital, as all NP’s/PA’s may be required to cover nearby clinical sites to ensure comprehensive patient support.

  • This role will support our Walnut Creek site for four (4) full workdays per week, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM between Monday through Friday.
What you will do
  • Practice under the standard procedure established for the NP/PA role consistent with BHC policy and in accordance with requirement set forth by the California Board of Registered Nursing.
  • Adhere to Boomerang’s daily schedule of patients to meet the needs of up to twenty‑one patients once fully trained.
  • Conduct age‑appropriate assessments of patients, including history taking and physical examination consistent with department protocol.
  • See 15‑minute follow‑up patients in coordination with supervising physicians.
  • See new patient consults in coordination with supervising physician.
  • Perform office injections including but not limited to trigger point injections, knee, shoulder, and bursa injections.
  • Evaluate patients for need for interventional procedures, including but not limited to epidural injections, facet injections, steroid joint injections, spinal cord stimulator.
  • Manage patient medication needs, including controlled substances while monitoring for any aberrant behavior by monitoring Urine Toxicology Tests and state CURES/PDMP records.
  • Perform assessment/data collection in an on‑going systematic manner, focusing on physiologic, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and cognitive status, patient/family education, family involvement, and patient advocacy.
  • Consult with supervising physicians or other clinicians as dictated by patient need and assessment findings.
  • Review medical records for follow‑up or ordering of diagnostic studies under established protocols.
  • Establish and maintain communication with other health care providers and departments to ensure operational efficiency and effectiveness and to promote consistency and continuity of care.
  • Establish effective working relationships with members of the health care team, patients, and families.
  • Acknowledge staff rights and cultural and ethical beliefs.
  • Delegate appropriately and coordinate duties/activities of health care team members.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of care given by team members.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and apply safety principles as identified by the institution. Perform efficiently in emergency situations following established protocols, remaining calm, informing appropriate persons, and documenting events.
  • Demonstrate responsibility and accountability for own professional practice.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of legal issues, including patient confidentiality and risk management in all aspects of patient care and unit functioning.
  • Identify and solve problems effectively.
  • Demonstrate a service philosophy in all interactions with patients, families, and all members of the health care team.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the use of computers and telecommunication modalities to document, track and convey information.
  • Ability to work at other nearby clinics on an as needed basis.
  • Assume other responsibilities as appropriate to the position and organizational needs.
Qualifications
  • EDUCATION
    • Master’s Degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant Studies
    • Must be California Licensed and Board Certified
    • New Graduates welcome to apply
    • New Graduates must obtain board certification within one year of employment
  • Requirements
    • Must meet credentialing requirements established for Nurse Practitioners (National Certification from one of the following organizations: American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, American Nurses Credentialing Center)
    • Master of Physician Assistant. New graduates must pass the Physician Assistant National Certifying Exam (PANCE), administered by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Must remain compliant with state licensing credentialing.
    • Hold a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification with Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training.
    • Maintain an NPI (National Provider Identifier) and meet Medicare prerequisites for PTAN (Provider Transaction Account Number).
    • Possess a current DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) license and have the ability to prescribe schedule II medications.
Compensation Range

$155,000 to $170,000 Annually
All compensation ranges are posted based on internal equity, job requirements, experience, and geographical locations.
