Job summary

Stryker Corporation in Texas is seeking a Clinician (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to evaluate, plan and provide care for patients under supervision of the attending physician. The NP/PA partners with registered nurses and medical assistants to deliver care.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years outpatient experience, TX license, DEA/DPS registrations, BLS, HIPAA knowledge and board certification; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing or Physician Assistant’s Program.
• 2+ years outpatient experience as a NP or PA.
• Unrestricted and valid license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in Texas.
• Current DEA and DPS registrations for writing prescriptions.
• Current BLS certification.
• HIPAA knowledge and compliance.
• Board certification relevant to licensure is required.
• Credentialing via THAP Credentialing Board will be completed.
• Experience with diverse populations; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

Our Clinician (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) works with the registered nurses and medical assistants to evaluate, plan and provide care for patients in consultation with and under direct supervision of the attending Physician.

The ideal candidate for the NP/PA role maintains effective communication with patients, staff and physicians; provides patient care in a competent, professional and courteous manner; and keeps abreast of current research and incorporates relevant findings into specific areas of clinical practice.

Core Functions

• Performs clinical procedures under direction of attending Physician and according to approved protocols.


• Performs a wide range of activities, which include but not limited to: assessment, history & physical, recommendations for patient plan of care.


• Monitors patient progress.


• Maintains patient medical records according to established standards.


• Maintains communication with the supervisory physician(s) and attending physician to review patient records and care plans on a routine basis.


• Ability to collaborate with attending physicians, facility staff members and other agencies as needed to coordinate optimal care and use of resources for the patient/family.


• Ability to work independently-Interacts as a team member with all levels of clinical staff.

This is a full-time, exempt position requiring 40 hours a week with some night and weekend hours.

Key Performance Indicators

1. Maintains a timely schedule; works to prevent extended patient wait times.


2. Implements changes in clinical protocols as soon as informed.


3. Maintains an up-to-date knowledge base on SDO’s, SOP’s, Protocols, etc.

Job Requirements

Experience, Education & Certification:

• Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing or Physician Assistant’s Program


• 2+ years outpatient experience as a NP or PA


• Unrestricted and valid license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state of Texas


• Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and Department of Public Safety (DPS) registrations IIIV for the purpose of writing prescriptions


• Current BLS certification


• Working knowledge of HIPAA regulations


• Active board certification appropriate to licensure is required

• Your previous work life and education ideally would include:


• 2+ years of experience in working with diverse populations, including LGBTQ+ and other marginalized populations


• Master's Degree in Nursing


• Working knowledge of Athena electronic medical record software


• Working knowledge of healthcare insurance preferred


• Bilingual: English and Spanish

Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions

• Ability to express and exchange ideas via spoken word during activities in which they must convey detail or important spoken instructions to others accurately, sometimes quickly and loudly.

FLSA / OVERTIME STATUS

If eligible for overtime, Employee will be paid time and one-half for time worked over 40 hours per week.
