Job summary

Winchester Cardiology and Vascular Medicine seeks a Cardiology Nurse Practitioner to provide comprehensive cardiovascular care in a state-of-the-art facility connected to Winchester Medical Center. The NP will work across inpatient and outpatient settings with a multidisciplinary team of cardiologists and advanced practice clinicians.

The position offers standard business hours with flexible scheduling options (five 8-hour shifts or four 10-hour shifts weekly) and no evening, night, or weekend

Qualifications

• Master's or doctoral NP degree from an accredited program.
• Active Virginia Nurse Practitioner license or eligible.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications at hire.
• DEA registration at hire or ability to obtain.
• Experience with CMS documentation guidelines and coding.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in outpatient cardiology clinics and follow-up visits.
• Perform inpatient rounds with supervising cardiologist.
• Respond to patient messages and inquiries via EPIC and coordinate care.
• Document encounters per CMS guidelines and obtain informed consent.
• Assist with inpatient discharge planning and follow-up.
• Review EKGs and communicate findings to the team.
• Respond to codes and cardio consultations as needed.

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Cardiology Nurse Practitioner to join our highly collaborative team of cardiologists and advanced practice clinicians in a state-of-the-art facility seamlessly connected to the Winchester Medical Center.

Essential Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in the outpatient cardiology clinic, including evaluation, follow-up visits, and ongoing management of cardiac conditions.
• Conduct inpatient rounding on cardiology patients in collaboration with the supervising cardiologist.
• Respond to patient messages, phone calls, and clinical inquiries through EPIC and other communication channels, providing timely assessment and coordination of care.
• Document all patient encounters in accordance with CMS and practice standards, including comprehensive note writing, test result review, follow-up communication, and obtaining informed consents when appropriate.
• Assist with inpatient discharges, including patient education, medication reconciliation, discharge orders, and coordination of follow-up care.
• Review and interpret electrocardiograms (EKGs) and communicate findings to the care team as appropriate.
• Respond to emergency department notifications or clinical codes to support cardiology consultations and acute patient care when needed.
• Collaborate closely with physicians, nursing staff, and ancillary teams to ensure continuity and quality of care across inpatient and outpatient settings.

Schedule

• Full-Time position operating during standard business hours, Monday through Friday.
• This position offers flexible scheduling options to work five (5) 8-hour shifts, or four (4) 10-hour shifts each week. Schedules are approved based on operational needs and departmental scheduling practices.
• No evening, night, or weekend call.
• No weekend working hours.
• Select paid holidays off. Holiday coverage may be required to meet patient care needs and will be assigned based on departmental schedules and operational requirements.

Compensation

The base pay range for this position is $105,000 - $140,000 annually. Starting pay within the posted range is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, education, and qualifications. The range provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master's degree or doctoral degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
• Prior Nurse Practitioner experience is not required.
• Eligible for or currently hold an active Virginia Nurse Practitioner license.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire.
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification upon hire.
• Current DEA registration or ability to obtain upon hire.
• Knowledge of CMS documentation guidelines, coding requirements, and regulatory standards.
• Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR), preferably EPIC.
• Ability to assess, diagnose, develop treatment plans, and manage patients across outpatient and inpatient settings.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong clinical judgment and critical-thinking skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare team members.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary care team.

• Ability to meet all credentialing, privileging, and background screening requirements established by Winchester Cardiology and Vascular Medicine and affiliated healthcare facilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience working as a Nurse Practitioner.
• Previous clinical rotation experience in cardiology or a related specialty.
• Experience using EPIC electronic health record (EHR) systems.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit, use a computer, and operate standard office and clinical equipment for extended periods, up to 10 hours per day
• Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout clinic and hospital environments for extended periods, up to 10 hours per day
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50?lbs.
• Ability to work onsite Monday through Friday
