Job Summary:

Carrollton Regional Medical Center is seeking a skilledNurse Practitionerto join our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) team. The primary responsibility of this role is the management of critically ill and complex patients, 18 years and older, in an ICU setting. The Nurse Practitioner (NP) will provide direct patient care, perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, and collaborate with the ICU team to deliver evidence-based, high-quality care to critically ill patients.

The NP will utilize specialized knowledge and clinical expertise in the ICU to deliver the highest standards of care in accordance with established protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage Critically Ill Patients: Oversee the care of complex, high-acuity patients requiring specialized monitoring and intervention in the ICU setting.

Patient Assessment: Conduct thorough interviews with patients and families, perform comprehensive physical exams, and document findings accurately, noting both normal and abnormal results.

Diagnosis and Treatment: Order and interpret diagnostic and laboratory tests, develop individualized treatment plans, and perform approved therapeutic procedures based on the patient’s clinical status.

Collaboration: Work with attending physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement acute illness treatment plans, adjusting interventions as necessary.

Procedures: Perform invasive procedures such as lumbar punctures, skin biopsies, suturing, central line insertions, intubation, and management of mechanical ventilation.

Prescribe Medications: Prescribe medications and interventions in accordance with established protocols and under the supervision of attending physicians, adjusting treatment as needed.

Patient Education: Provide education and counseling to patients and families regarding their medical conditions, treatment plans, and preventive care.

Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and timely records of patient progress, updating charts, and notifying physicians of any changes in patient condition.

Leadership and Collaboration: Participate in ongoing education programs, leadership initiatives, and professional organizations to contribute to nursing excellence and patient care standards.

Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to all hospital policies, safety, infection control, and accreditation standards.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

In-depth knowledge of nursing and patient care standards.

Familiarity with medical terminology, diagnostic tests, and pharmacology.

Ability to perform complex procedures, including but not limited to central line insertion, intubation, and ventilator management.

Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.

Ability to assess and manage critically ill patients with a focus on providing age-specific, patient-centered care.

Leadership skills to manage both patient care and educational initiatives in the ICU setting.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Master’s Degree in Nurse Practitioner Program.

Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in an acute hospital or ICU setting.

Certifications:
