Job summary

The Milwaukee VAMC is seeking a Nurse Practitioner in the Gastroenterology Department to provide a full range of services with emphasis on quality, timeliness, and advancing VA mission. The role centers on advanced clinical practice, consultation, and management, with a strong emphasis on IBD care.

Responsibilities include independent patient management, developing individualized care plans, interdisciplinary collaboration, ordering tests, and education for patients and families.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage a panel of patients with acute and chronic health conditions with an emphasis on health promotion and disease prevention using evidence-based practice
• Develop and implement an individualized plan to achieve optimal population health and disease management
• Demonstrate leadership and works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team
• Order and interpret labs - tests - and diagnostic studies
• Prescribe pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions
• Initiate referrals and consults to specialty services
• Provide education to patients and their families
• Assess and adjust the plan of care as needed to achieve optimal patient outcomes

The Milwaukee VAMC is looking for a highly qualified Nurse Practitioner in the Gastroenterology Department. This role will practice to provide a full range of services emphasizing quality - timeliness - and the advancement of the Veterans Affairs (VA) mission. They provide advanced clinical practice - consultation - and management. This position will provide comprehensive gastroenterology support with a special emphasis on IBD management.
