Job summary

Unity Health Care seeks a Nurse Practitioner to serve within the Department of Corrections in Washington, DC. The NP will provide comprehensive, culturally competent care under supervision, managing acute and chronic conditions and promoting preventive health.

Responsibilities include exams, diagnostics, treatment planning, and coordination with interdisciplinary teams, with documentation within 48 hours and on-call coverage as needed.

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted District of Columbia NP license.
• Graduation from an accredited NP program.
• Board eligible or nationally board certified in NP specialty; certification within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Conduct patient assessments, physical examinations, and medical evaluations.
• Diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic medical conditions.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests and screenings.
• Develop treatment plans and prescribe medications.
• Coordinate referrals to specialists and behavioral health professionals.
• Provide culturally competent, patient-centered care.
• Maintain electronic medical records and complete documentation within 48 hours.
• Collaborate with physicians and healthcare teams to coordinate care.
• Participate in quality improvement, clinical meetings, and patient safety activities.
• Support patient education and population health initiatives.
