Job summary

The Indian Health Service is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to deliver high-quality care to American Indian and Alaska Native communities. You will analyze histories, diagnose conditions, develop treatment plans, prescribe medications, and educate patients to manage acute and chronic illnesses.

This federal role requires a nursing degree, a current license, and the ability to pass a background check and E-Verify. On-call and rotating shifts may apply.

Qualifications

• Must have nursing degree from an accredited program and be licensed to practice as a nurse practitioner.
• Current, active, full and unrestricted license/registration as a professional nurse.
• For APN positions, licensure in the clinical specialty required by the position.
• Background investigation, E-Verify, and possible immunization requirements may apply.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret patient histories, symptoms, and diagnostic information to formulate diagnoses.
• Develop treatment plans based on standards of care and guidelines.
• Diagnose or treat acute health care problems including illnesses, infections, and injuries.
• Prescribe medications considering efficacy, safety, dosage, and frequency.
• Educate patients on self-management and lifestyle changes for acute or chronic illnesses.
