Job summary

Midwest Express Clinic is seeking a Family Nurse Practitioner for our Blue Island, IL area. You will lead clinical care across the lifespan, partnering with Medical Assistants, radiologic techs, and clinic leadership to deliver efficient, high-quality care aligned with MEC standards for service, safety, and operational excellence.

The ideal candidate will hold an NP with IL or IN licensure, possess strong decision-making and procedural skills, and demonstrate excellent communication.

Qualifications

• Master's or Doctorate in NP from an accredited program.
• Active Family Nurse Practitioner license in IL and/or IN.
• Ability to treat patients across the lifespan.
• Strong clinical decision-making and procedural skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients of all ages with acute illnesses and injuries.
• Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans.
• Order, interpret, and communicate diagnostic testing (labs/imaging).
• Perform procedures including laceration repair, incision and drainage, foreign body removal, splinting, nails, injections, DOT physicals, and occupational medicine services.
• Prescribe medications and therapies within scope of practice.
• Ensure accurate documentation in the EMR.

The Role

The Family Nurse Practitioner serves as a key clinical leader within the clinic, providing evidence-based care services while fostering an exceptional patient experience. This role partners closely with Medical Assistants, Radiologic Technologists, leadership, and physicians to deliver efficient, high-quality care that aligns with MEC's standards for service, safety, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

Clinical Excellence

• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients of all ages presenting with acute illnesses and injuries


• Develop and implement appropriate treatment plans utilizing evidence-based medicine


• Order, interpret, and communicate diagnostic testing including laboratory and radiology results

Team Leadership & Collaboration

• Serve as a clinical resource for Medical Assistants, Radiologic Technologists, and clinic team members


• Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement


• Support onboarding and development of new clinical staff


• Collaborate effectively with collaborating physicians and operational leaders

Operational Excellence

• Support clinic goals related to patient flow, efficiency, and quality metrics


• Participate in process improvement initiatives and clinical quality programs


• Assist with maintaining regulatory compliance, infection control, and patient safety standards


• Adapt to varying patient volumes, staffing needs, and clinic locations as business needs require

Required

What We’re Looking For

• Master's or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.


• Active Family Nurse Practitioner license in Illinois and/or Indiana.


• Ability to treat patients across the lifespan.


• Strong clinical decision-making and procedural skills.


• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

• Urgent Care, Emergency Medicine, Family Practice, or Occupational Medicine experience.


• Experience performing common urgent care procedures.


• DOT Certification (or willingness to obtain).

Scheduling Requirements

• Ability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays


• Flexibility to support multiple clinic locations

Compensation

The expected salary range for this position is $125,000-130,000, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications.
