Job summary

Affiliated Oncologists is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to provide high-quality oncology care, collaborating with physicians and staff in clinic or telemedicine settings.

The role requires an MSN and an NP license with oncology experience preferred; BLS/CPR certification is required. Expect responsibilities spanning assessment, treatment planning, education, and potential involvement in research and care coordination.

Qualifications

  • MSN from an accredited nursing school and successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a practicing Nurse Practitioner.
  • Previous oncology experience strongly preferred.
  • RN licensure and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in the practicing state.
  • Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care for patients.
  • Initiates and documents appropriate interventions; evaluates and records patient/family response and prescribes therapies as indicated.
  • Performs procedures with minimal supervision.
  • Assesses patient/family needs and provides education.
  • Promotes wellness and recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.
  • Often incorporates evidence-based research into clinical practice.
  • Solid knowledge of reimbursement procedures and documentation requirements.
  • Completes patient charge capture and medical record documentation in a timely fashion.
  • Likely to provide case management for patients and their families.
  • Sometimes serves as a resource for nursing staff by providing information being studied in clinical trials.
  • May provide palliative care for the patient and their families as needed.
  • May promote/provide staff education.
  • Responsibilities may include rounding at affiliated hospitals, weekend or after-hour calls.
  • May mentor new advanced practice providers.
  • May precept APP students.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Overview

Join Affiliated Oncologists as a Nurse Practitioner!

AO specializes in treating a variety of cancers including lymphoma lung, breast, prostate, gynecologic, colorectal and head and neck cancers. Our physicians and staff are a multi‑disciplinary team of highly experienced caregivers focused on helping patients and their families receive the best care and support possible.

SCOPE: Under supervision or in collaboration with practice physicians, involved in the care of individuals, families and patient groups who are dealing with cancer or other related diagnoses. This care may be in clinic or virtually, via telemedicine. Responsibilities may include duties related to prevention, screening, patient care, management, and research. May serve as direct caregiver, health‑care consultant, patient educator, administrator, or researcher. Ensures compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards and requirements. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing school and successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner program.
  • This position typically requires a minimum of 3 years of experience as a practicing Nurse Practitioner.
  • Previous oncology experience strongly preferred.
  • RN state licensure and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in the practicing state required.
  • Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner required.
  • Current basic life support (BLS)/CPR certification required.

Salary Range
  • $106,000 - $150,000 per year
