Job summary

Option Care Health is seeking a Nurse Practitioner for our Ambulatory Infusion Center. The NP will provide direct patient care, manage infusion-related plans, and ensure safe, evidence-based treatment in coordination with the medical team.

The role requires an NP license in the practicing state, board certification, and experience in infusion services or IV therapy, with proficient use of EHR systems. Travel between local infusion centers may be required, and the position offers comprehensive

Qualifications

  • Master's or Doctoral NP degree required.
  • Active NP license in practicing state.
  • Board certification as NP (FNP/AGNP or specialty).
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Minimum 1 year NP clinical experience.
  • Prior IV therapy/infusion services experience preferred.
  • Proficient in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
  • Credentialing-ready: maintain licensure and provide payer documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive, hands-on patient care including assessments, physical exams, and infusion therapy-related treatment.
  • Prescribe and manage medications related to infusion care in line with state regulations and collaborative practice agreements.
  • Order and interpret labs, diagnostics, and therapy-specific tests.
  • Oversee IV, IM, and SC medication administration and monitor for adverse events.
  • Create, document and update individualized infusion care plans with thorough EHR documentation.
  • Evaluate therapy appropriateness, payer criteria, and clinical suitability for infusion center setting.
  • Maintain communication with medical directors and interdisciplinary staff for care coordination.
  • Identify urgent reactions during infusion and coordinate necessary interventions and transfers.
  • Serve as a clinical leader to infusion nurses and staff on protocols.
  • Support patient education, counseling, and safe transition of care across settings.
  • Participate in quality improvement and operational planning for the infusion center.
  • Maintain payer-required licenses and NPI enrollment linked to the organization’s Tax ID.

Education

Master's or Doctoral degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
Active and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in the practicing state

Job Description Summary

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) in the Ambulatory Infusion Center provides direct patient care including administering IV/IM/SC therapies, managing infusion-related care plans, and ensuring safe and effective treatment in alignment with evidence-based clinical practice. The NP is responsible for using their licensure to obtain and maintain payer credentialing and reimbursement eligibility for the organization.

Job Responsibilities (listed in order of importance and/or time spent)
  • Provide comprehensive, hands-on patient care including assessments, physical exams, and treatment of infusion therapy-related conditions.
  • Prescribe and manage medications related to infusion care, in compliance with state regulations and collaborative practice agreements.
  • Order and interpret labs, diagnostics, and therapy-specific tests.
  • Oversee and perform IV, IM, and SC medication administration and monitor for side effects or adverse events.
  • Create, document, and update individualized infusion care plans and maintain thorough, timely documentation in the EHR.
  • Conduct initial patient evaluations for therapy appropriateness, including payer criteria and clinical suitability for infusion center setting.
  • Maintain open, timely communication with medical directors, referring physicians, and interdisciplinary staff regarding care coordination.
  • Identify urgent or emergent reactions during infusion, initiate appropriate interventions, and coordinate emergency transfers when necessary.
  • Serve as a clinical leader within the infusion center team; provide guidance to infusion nurses and support staff on patient care and clinical protocols.
  • Support patient education, counseling, and safe transition of care across healthcare settings.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and operational planning efforts across the infusion center.
  • Participate in credentialing and contracting processes by maintaining all payer-required licenses and individual NPI enrollment linked to the organization’s Tax ID.
  • Perform duties in compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, ACHC, and all applicable federal and state guidelines.

Basic Education and/or Experience Requirements

Travel Requirements
  • Must be able to travel between local infusion centers as needed for clinical coverage or training.
Work Conditions And Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and perform clinical care for extended periods
  • Lift and move equipment and supplies up to 25 lbs as needed
  • Perform duties in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high levels of accuracy and patient safety

Due to state pay transparency laws, the full range for the position is below:

Salary to be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

Pay Range is $92,004.26-$153,332.93
